“Moments of pure inspiration to puncture the gloom”
“Darkly enticing, truly evocative and unique”
“A completely imposing start”
“Flourish is a stunningly beautiful record”
“Striding across the dark line between rock and electronics...” - Clash
Bristol-based duo, The Actions, formed with the intention of creating dark, cinematic slices of music.
They played hundreds of gigs including opening slots for R.E.M., Green Day, Garbage, Distillers. Their very first single 'The Real Thing' was included in the soundtrack of the MTV US slasher movie My Super Psycho Sweet 16.
Evocative and transcendent, new album ‘Flourish’ (out now via Niteo Records), offers the grandiose orchestral sensibilities of Vangelis and blends this with the grooves and dense atmospherics produced by artists such as latest Low and Portishead.
Recorded and produced by the band in their studio in Easton (Bristol) and finalised at the legendary Invada Studios, Flourish explores themes of fear, anxiety, escapism and change.
Their enduring sound has seen them pick up press support from the likes of Clash Magazine and Nothing But Hope And Passion, as well as airplay from BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson, Amazing Radio’s Simon Raymonde, Matt Baty, and John Kennedy of Radio X.
Active in the London's grassroots scene The Actions played venues like The Water Rats, The Lexington, Sebright Arms, Proud Embankment, Rich Mix, The Dublin Castle, The Unicorn, 93 Feet East, The Mau Mau, The Monarch, Zigfrid von Underbelly, The Macbeth, Nambucca, O2 Academy2 Islington, Paper Dress Vintage...
